How to restore a CTP insurance policy in case of loss
Every Ukrainian driver is obliged to purchase an MTPL policy. Its absence is a violation of the law. If a roadside check reveals that you don't have a CTPCI, you will have to pay a fine not only for violating traffic rules, but also for not having insurance.

An electronic CTP policy has been in effect in Ukraine for two years now. The document has the same legal force as a paper one. Drivers actively use the opportunity to buy insurance online, which is purchased at a convenient time in a matter of minutes. Police officers need to see the policy on the screen of a mobile phone or tablet to check it.
One of the advantages of E-CMTPL is the guarantee of its safety. The digital policy is stored in the smartphone as a PDF file. First, the document is sent to an email address where it can be downloaded. The likelihood of forgetting a mobile device at home is low. Even if this happens, drivers usually return to get their phone. It's almost impossible to lose an electronic CTPCI. However, there are a number of other troubles that can happen - accidental deletion of a file, virus damage, loss of access to the mailbox. In such situations, don't panic - the car insurance policy can be easily restored.
A printed version can be forgotten at home, soiled, crumpled, lost, stolen along with your bag and other documents, or played with by your dog. Even drivers with a responsible attitude to business papers are not immune to such situations.
According to Ukrainian law, in case of loss of an MTPL policy, the insurance company is obliged to issue a duplicate within 7 calendar days on the basis of the insured's application. The rule applies to both printed and digital versions.
What to do if you lose your policy
To restore a motor third party liability insurance policy, you need to contact the insurance company that sold the policy and write an application indicating the reasons for the loss of the document. The insurer will issue a new policy with the inscription "duplicate" and indicate the series and number of the lost document in the "Notes" field. All previous data is transferred. The paper version is certified with a wet stamp.
If the policy was purchased through the insurer's website, you must also contact the insurer using an online application. The company will send an electronic copy to the specified email address. The service of issuing paper and digital copies is free of charge. If the insurance company refuses to issue a copy for any reason, the citizen has the right to file a complaint with the MTIBU.
If the owner cannot personally receive a copy, he or she can do so through his or her authorised representative who has a power of attorney.
The loss of an MTPL is not a problem. Trouble arises if an insured event occurs and there is no CTPCI. Using E-CTP is more convenient and preferable, and the likelihood of its loss is very low. If the document is lost, you should not delay its recovery, it is better to contact the insurer immediately.
