CTP insurance policy: rules for filling out and a set of documents for registration
Every day, thousands of motorists take to the roads in a hurry to get to work, home, the shops or other errands. The rush pushes them to exceed the speed limit, perform prohibited manoeuvres and other traffic violations that lead to accidents. The consequences of an accident require considerable financial investments. And the best way to insure against them is to take out an MTPL policy. This is a mandatory document for all drivers, regardless of the type of vehicle they drive. The policy form is filled in by hand or in print and consists of two sheets. The first is the original document. It is kept by the policyholder. The second sheet is a copy of it. It remains with the insurer. It is important to fill out the contract correctly. The cost and reliability of the policy will depend on it.
Features of filling in the form
If you buy a used car, the seller may leave a policy that has not yet expired.
To draw up an insurance contract, you can contact the company or fill out an electronic form on the website. The second method is faster and more convenient. It eliminates manual filling in of the form and reduces the likelihood of errors. In this form, you are offered various items with options to choose from: type of vehicle, engine size, and policy term. The cost of insurance is calculated automatically based on these characteristics.
When filling out the form manually, you should be careful and write legibly, preferably in printed font. Any correction or error will invalidate the document. Empty fields should be crossed out. Numbers should be written in special fields. This will allow them to be read by automated devices.
Characteristic features of the form:
- two-layer printing;
- watermarks;
- background image of a car;
- a metallised strip running across the form;
- QR code.
The insurance policy form has a single form that is used throughout the country.
The first item is the validity period. Next is the name of the driver or the name of the company (if the insured is a legal entity), as well as the personal data of the vehicle owner. The next items are: information about the car (make, model, number). The owner must also indicate the purpose of the vehicle, for example, use as a taxi. It affects the value of the coefficient and the cost of insurance.
The last point is the cost of insurance. It is calculated individually and depends on various factors (car brand, technical characteristics, intended use, availability of benefits).
The set of documents
The insurance policy is taken out by the owner of the vehicle or his representative, provided that he has a notarised power of attorney authorising him to dispose of the car. To conclude the contract, you need to prepare a set of documents:
- passport and identification code;
- driver's licence and copies thereof;
- car registration certificate.
In order not to carry such a set of documents with you, you can use the services of companies operating online. All you need to do is enter your details and information about the vehicle, indicate the availability of benefits, the term of the policy, the amount of the deductible, and sign the contract.
After that, the document will be sent to the post office. The driver can print the form or store it electronically on a mobile device.
Insurer, policy and policyholder data
The first field contains information about the insurance company. The name, address, and phone number are entered here. There should also be a stamp. The insurer code is indicated next to the field - a three-digit number assigned by the MTIBU.
The next field contains the policy validity period. These are the exact dates when the contract comes into force and on what date it expires. The 4th field records the amount of payments to the third party in the event of an accident. Two numbers are recorded separately. The first is compensation for damage to health and life. The maximum figure is 260 thousand hryvnias. The second limit is compensation for property damage. The maximum amount of payments is 130 thousand hryvnias. The figures are written in full.
Then the deductible amount is indicated. This is the compensation that the insured pays on their own. It is up to 2% of the maximum amount of insurance coverage. It is also possible to take out a policy without a deductible. In this case, zero is entered in this column.
The next section contains the policyholder's data. Individuals enter information about themselves: Full name, registered address, postcode, date of birth, identification number, telephone number. In the appropriate fields, the details of the identity document should be entered. If the insured is a legal entity, the name and address of the organisation, the EDRPOU code, and the contact telephone number must be indicated.
Vehicle data
In the 6th field, data about the car, motorcycle, bus, etc. are recorded. The information must correspond to the one specified in the registration certificate. The vehicle make and year of manufacture, licence plate number, and city of registration are entered into the insurance policy form. When applying for CTP insurance, it is also necessary to indicate the type and size of the engine, as the cost of insurance depends on this.
Special conditions of the vehicle's operation are entered into the form. It is necessary to indicate whether the car is used as a taxi, or whether the bus or truck is subject to technical control. The driving experience of the owner and other persons who will drive the car should also be entered.
Please note: The policy must expire before the next mandatory technical inspection.
Payment calculation
The insurance company fixes the amount of payment and compensation to be paid in the event of an accident. To calculate how much insurance will cost, the basic rate must be multiplied by coefficients (engine size, city of registration, area of use of the car, individual or legal entity, driving experience, policy duration, presence or absence of insurance payments, length of service).
Pensioners, combatants, disabled persons of group II and liquidators of the Chernobyl accident belong to the preferential category. They are entitled to a 50% discount on the MTPL insurance policy.
The document indicates the date of payment, the amount, name and number of the payment document.
In the event of an accident, the victim applies to the company of the culprit with an application, passport and identification code, car registration certificate, and a certificate of identity.
